Do All Newport Beach Bail Bonds Need Collateral?

Q. Our uncle was arrested on domestic violence charges last night and he’s currently being held at the Newport Beach Jail.  We want to get him out as fast as possible but none of us own homes.  Someone told me that we’ll need to put a house up if we want to hire a bail bonds company so I’m wondering if there is any way to get around that.

A. It seems as if you’ve been given some misinformation.  The good news is that not all bail bonds require property collateral. There are some Newport Beach bail bonds companies that always prefer their clients put up collateral but depending on the nature of the crime, whether the defendant is a U.S. citizen, if they have ties to the community, you may be eligible for signature bail bonds. In this case the signature of the person who cosigns for the defendant is assurance enough that the defendant will go to court and finish their case.
